The Department of Aviation Science is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty member to be a part of a multi-talented and diverse group of professionals. The growing Aviation Department serves more than 200 students in both the Aviation Management and Flight Training concentrations. The mission of the Department of Aviation includes increasing the diversity of the aviation workforce by attracting and educating a diverse student body. Essential Duties
Responsibilities include the following:* Teach undergraduate classes in aviation science flight and management.
* Prepare classroom and curriculum to develop successful learning outcomes.
* Provide student assistance, including academic advising in effort to create a student centered approach to success.
* Participate in and contribute to the improvement and development of academic programs or academic services to the University.
* Participate in continuing scholarship and contributions in efforts to improve and develop the department's learning objectives
* Work collaboratively with faculty, employees, students and community to foster a welcoming and innovative learning environment.
* Opportunities available to teach ground schools and management classes.
Applicants must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.
Required Qualifications
* Masters' Degree in an appropriate field.* Proven record of accomplishment in a combination of professional service and experience in teaching and/or industry.
* Demonstrated experience in collaboration and leadership to work effectively with faculty, students, staff, and administrators.
* Demonstrated interest and ability in corporate/alumni development and global activities.
* Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising, and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity.
* Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning.
* Demonstrated evidence of scholarly activity, and a commitment to public higher education.
Preferred Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience with outcomes based curriculum and accreditation* Demonstrated scholarly accomplishment in research
* Ability to teach ground schools and management classes
