Full Job Description

The Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. This will be a 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research areas include but are not limited to: air quality modeling and forecasting; airborne pollutant dispersion; indoor air quality; environmental aspects of climate change adaptation/mitigation; and environmental aspects of sustainable urban systems. Candidates should also have a strong background in computation, data science, machine learning, agent-based modeling, and related areas. We prioritize the innovative potential and research promise of candidates over their specific sub-field within Environmental Engineering. We are looking for individuals who align with the Department's vision and are pushing the boundaries of their sub-field to enhance the sustainability and resilience of the built environment. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and demonstrate the capability to establish an independent research program. A strong dedication to both graduate and undergraduate education is essential, as well as the ability to engage in interdisciplinary research.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, mentor graduate students, lead a dynamic research team in advancing the field of Environmental Engineering, participate in all aspects of the department activities and serve the profession. Applicants are invited to consult the department website, http://engineering.tamu.edu/civil, to review our academic and research programs, including the vision and mission of the Department and the College of Engineering.

The Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M is proud to be among the top civil and environmental engineering programs in the country, ranked 7th in undergraduate programs and 9th in graduate programs at public institutions. The department currently has 53 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 24 academic professional track faculty members. Our student population is comprised of over 850 undergraduate students (sophomore to senior level) and 370 graduate students.
