We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Associate Director of Electrical Power Systems to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical power systems, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record working in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic direction and oversight of electrical power systems, ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of medium voltage electrical systems and power generation (including associated control systems) across the organization.
Serve as the site's subject matter expert for the electrical discipline. Advise and assist both maintenance and capital project teams with compliance to relevant internal and external guidance.
Manage and mentor the utility power systems group, providing guidance on operational practices, technical expertise, and team development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, real estate, facility management, and master planning to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with organizational goals and initiatives.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for electrical operations and maintenance, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and other relevant regulations.
Own and administer the site's Electrical Safety program (Glove/equipment testing program, Safe Electrical Work Practices Site Procedure, Arc Flash Analysis/Labeling). Act as a technical resource for hazardous work involving electricity.
Monitor industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering to drive continuous improvement of electrical systems and operations.
Oversee budget planning and resource allocation for electrical and control system related projects, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget constraints.
Drive initiatives for energy efficiency and sustainability within electrical operations to align with the company's commitment to environmental stewardship.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance related to electrical systems.
Accountable for standby generator emissions compliance.
Responds to and directs restoration and remediation of electrical emergencies.
Foster a culture of safety and innovation within the engineering team, promoting training and professional development opportunities.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with substantial experience in managing medium voltage electrical systems in industrial environments.
Proven leadership and management experience, particularly in supervising and developing engineering teams.
Extensive knowledge of NFPA standards (70, 70E, and 70B) and other relevant electrical codes and regulations.
Experience with instrumentation and control systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance, operations, and project oversight.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively with various stakeholders and conveying technical information clearly.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and electrical engineering software tools.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Master's degree and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
Experience with heavy frame industrial gas turbine generators & reciprocating engine generators.
Experience with energy management systems and initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency and sustainability practices.
Knowledge of facility management principles and practices as they pertain to electrical power systems.
Experience managing Collective Bargaining units and executing Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA).

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
