The Director, New England Energy Efficiency Sales, will lead our commercial, industrial, municipal, and institutional customer engagement efforts for energy efficiency and building electrification in Massachusetts.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for driving market adoption at scale of National Grid's energy efficiency and electrification solutions offered through Mass Save. The Director will lead a large, multidisciplinary organization responsible for sales strategy, customer engagement, technical services, trade ally partnerships, sales enablement, and performance management.
Success in this role requires the ability to combine commercial leadership, operational discipline, and market insight -delivering outcomes across affordability, decarbonization, equity, and customer value
Key Accountabilities
Sales strategy and performance
- Lead sales strategy and execution across customer segments to deliver strong participation and achieve desired outcomes
- Translate program strategy into actionable, results-driven sales plans
- Establish disciplined CRM, pipeline management, and forecasting practices
- Implement performance frameworks, including targets, incentives, and accountability
Customer and market engagement
- Build relationships with large customers, municipalities, and institutional partners
- Develop targeted engagement strategies to create leads and convert into delivered projects
- Use data-driven customer insights to identify and prioritize sales opportunities and improve close rates
- Ensure close and effective coordination with the Account Management team to create a seamless customer experience, drive customer satisfaction, and unlock new sales opportunities
Leadership of sales and technical functions
Deliver end-to-end project execution and excellent customer experience across the lifecycle of energy efficiency projects, from lead generation through project close-out, leading multiple specialized teams:
- Large customer sales
- National account sales and municipal partnerships
- Trade ally sales
- Inside sales and lead intake
- Technical services (engineering analysis, savings modeling)
- Customer support and back-office operations
- Sales enablement (goal setting, forecasting, analytics, pipeline, performance reporting)
Program delivery and technical partnership
- Partner with Customer Energy Management (CEM) and Program Delivery teams to align on program design and priorities
- Ensure effective execution of complex customer projects
- Maintain strong knowledge of program offerings and incentive structures
Trade ally and market ecosystem
- Strengthen contractor and supply chain partnerships
- Support development of a scalable delivery ecosystem for electrification and energy efficiency
- Ensure high-quality project delivery through strong partner engagement
Data-driven sales management
- Lead CRM and analytics capabilities to manage pipeline, support priority targeting, and enhance performance
- Establish consistent pipeline discipline from lead generation through close
- Develop reporting and dashboards to drive visibility and continuous improvement
Innovation and emerging solutions
- Identify and incorporate new, commercially viable energy efficiency and electrification technologies into product portfolio
- Bring new, proven solutions to market within the Mass Save portfolio
Leadership and team development
- Lead a high-performing, customer-focused organization
- Build capabilities across sales, technical, and analytics functions
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required; advanced degree preferred
- 3+ years of leadership experience in sales, energy efficiency, utility programs, or related commercial roles preferred
- Proven experience leading complex, customer-facing teams
- Deep experience with CRM platforms, sales pipeline management, and performance tracking systems
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement sales target frameworks and performance-based incentive programs
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency, electrification, or clean energy markets preferred
- Demonstrated ability to translate customer and market data into actionable commercial insights
- Strong strategic and commercial mindset with the ability to drive performance at scale
- Exceptional influencing and communication skills, including experience engaging senior executives and external stakeholders
- Analytical orientation with experience using data to guide decisions and drive outcomes
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, targets, and resource plans
- Familiarity with Massachusetts energy markets and Mass Save programs preferred
