We do this by prioritizing connection over compliance, and we follow positive discipline practices that encourage children to discover who they are while becoming responsible, respectful and engaged members of their communities./p pnbsp;/p pstrongPOSITION SUMMARY:/strong/p pnbsp;/p pThe Director of the Kenan Preschool at the Atlanta Speech School provides daily leadership and support to the students, parents, and staff members of the preschool program. This individual facilitates the highly collaborative work of a staff of teachers, a curriculum specialist, admissions and outplacement coordinator, preschool counselor, occupational therapist, and speech language therapist with the goal of providing the best possible preschool services to children ages two through five. The Director also serves as the Kenan representative on the school wide Leadership Team, helping to guide the development of the Schoolrsquo;s three preschool programs and Atlanta Speech School as a whole./p pnbsp;/p pCandidates will demonstrate a thorough understanding of early childhood development, early childhood developmentally appropriately practice, childrenrsquo;s learning profiles and psychoeducational evaluations, including academic development, cognitive processes, executive functions, and social-emotional development./p pnbsp;/p pnbsp;/p pnbsp;/p ol liProgrammatic Responsibilities/li /ol ul liDevelop goals, direction, and policies of the program/li liDevelop and implement criteria for admissions, outplacement, and student outcomes/li liConduct ongoing program evaluation and identification of needs, including coordinating regularly with Kenanrsquo;s curriculum specialist to plan for and guide studentsrsquo; academic experiences/li liCollaborate with parents through the Kenan Parent Council through quarterly meetings/li liAttend regularly scheduled meetings with the Chief Academic Officer/li liPlan parent and staff education programs/li liParticipate in budget review and manage funds allocated to the Kenan Preschool/li liRepresent Kenan, leading tours during Open House events/li liAttract, recruit and hire highly skilled and motivated staff/li liCollaborate with the Rollins Center for Language amp; Literacy on program development and Cox Campus content for Birth-5 educators./li /ul pnbsp;/p ol start="2" liResponsibilities to Parents amp; Students/li /ol ul liConduct orientation and parent education meetings/li liBe available for parent contacts, conferences, calls/li liObserve children and make recommendations, including assisting with developing and reviewing individual goals for children and developing procedures to identify and help children who are not progressing satisfactorily/li liPlan and attend student support and data team meetings/li liParticipate in discussions of enrollment and outplacement and proof teacher reports and outplacement recommendations/li liClearly communicate with parents regarding departmental guidelines/policies, schedules and procedures in person and in writing/li liOversee review of student records and selection of materials released to other agencies/li liCoordinate re-enrollment/li /ul pnbsp;/p ol start="3" liResponsibilities to Staff/li /ol ul liAssign staff placement and duties/li liDevelop and deliver onboarding for new staff/li liObserve and mentor staff following Atlanta Speech School guidelines/li liParticipate in parent conferences as requested or required/li liConfer with teachers regarding students, concerns, and performance improvement plans/li liDemonstrate lessons as necessary/li liRecommend, develop, and provide staff development opportunities that align with program needs and/or staff needs/li liSupport staff engagement in overall Speech School professional development (Montag Lecture Series, etc.)/li /ul pnbsp;/p ol start="4" liAdministrative Responsibilities/li /ol ul liHost monthly staff meetings/li liPlan the Kenan calendar to include events such as student activities, parent conference days, special events, and teacher work/planning days/li liMonitor and plan for department budget needs/li /ul pnbsp;/p ol start="5" liResponsibilities to the Leadership Team/li /ol ul liCollaborate with other Directors within the School to establish best practices and provide best services/li liPeriodically facilitate Leadership Team and Roundtable meetings/li liBe a collaborative partner in decision making for the Atlanta Speech School/li /ul pstrongnbsp;/strongstrongnbsp;/strong/p pstrongSALARY: /strongSalary is commensurate with credentials and experience./p pstrongbr /TO APPLY: /strongPlease submit all the following documents to ensure that your information is considered: ucover letter/u, uresume/u, and uwritten submission/u: Please describe how your particular skills, talents, and/or expertise could be beneficial to the Kenan Preschool Program.
