Location: Silverthorne, Colorado (Hybrid)

Our symposia serve researchers across the life sciences, providing a forum for critical discussions on cutting-edge topics. Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and experienced Director of Marketing to lead our marketing efforts and further elevate the brand and reach of Keystone Symposia. The Director will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the organization’s marketing strategy to promote our conferences, enhance global visibility, attract attendees, and strengthen the organization’s 50-year-old brand within the scientific and academic communities. This position requires a hands-on leader who is both creative and data-driven, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with key stakeholders to drive results.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote Keystone Symposia’s brand, mission, and scientific conferences.
  • Lead marketing initiatives that drive attendance and engagement for conferences, workshops, and other educational programs.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth and positioning.

Brand Management:

  • Ensure consistent and cohesive messaging across all platforms, including digital, print, and event communications.
  • Manage the Keystone Symposia brand to ensure it reflects the organization's mission and values while maintaining a professional, global image.
  • Identify market trends and consumer insights to differentiate the brand from competitors.

Digital Marketing:

  • Oversee the design, development, and execution of digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing, paid media, SEO, content marketing, and social media.
  • Optimize digital channels for maximum engagement and conversion, including driving traffic to the Keystone Symposia website and event registration portals.
  • Ensure all digital marketing efforts are optimized for conversions and are measurable through analytics.
  • Utilize data analytics to track performance, adjust strategies, and report on key metrics.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Build and lead a high-performing marketing team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Partner with internal departments such as to ensure alignment of marketing strategies with overall organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with speakers, sponsors, and conference organizers to leverage their networks and amplify conference promotions.
  • Collaborate with external partners, sponsors, and exhibitors to build and maintain relationships that promote symposia and other initiatives.

Event Promotion & Public Relations:

  • Develop promotional campaigns for individual conferences, ensuring maximum visibility and outreach to targeted audiences.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for press inquiries and manage external communications, including press releases, blog posts, and media partnerships.
  • Leverage public relations opportunities to build the organization’s credibility and recognition within the scientific community.

Budget & Resource Management:

  • Develop and manage the marketing budget for scientific conferences, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI.
  • Monitor and report on ROI of marketing initiatives, using data to inform decisions and optimize spending.

Market Research & Insights:

  • Conduct market research to stay ahead of industry trends and ensure the marketing strategy reflects the evolving needs of the scientific community.
  • Regularly gather feedback from participants, sponsors, and stakeholders to improve event offerings and marketing efforts.
  • Use insights to drive future marketing strategies, ensuring effective outreach and maintaining a competitive edge.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, preferably within the life sciences, healthcare, or academic conference industries is required.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing successful marketing strategies, including digital marketing, brand management, and event promotion.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing a marketing team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and convey complex ideas clearly to a variety of audiences.
  • Expertise in digital marketing platforms, CRM systems, content management tools, and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot, etc.). HubSpot experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive decision-making and optimize marketing initiatives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
  • A passion for science and a strong understanding of the academic and research community is a plus.

COMPENSATION:

Starting salary range is $100,000 to $115,000 depending on experience. In addition, this full-time position includes our generous benefits package.
