What You'll Do
The BCG Henderson Institute, Boston Consulting Group's think tank, is looking for an experienced Economist to join the Center for Macroeconomics in New York, working alongside BCG's Chief Economist and Managing Director and Partner, and BCG's Senior Economist.
The Center for Macroeconomics researches the impact of macroeconomic developments on corporations, economies, and society more broadly. It develops original thought leadership and IP for BCG and drives external visibility in this space. The economist will be a critical part of the team, conducting data analysis and qualitative research to further the leadership publications of the firm - as well as supporting the team leadership as they meet with clients and given presentations at SATT events.
The ideal candidate has several years of experience sourcing and analysing global macro data, carrying out analyses and visualizing results, contributing to client-facing output, and engaging with the macro debate on the team. She or he will have gained such experience working in the asset management industry, in an investment bank or multi-lateral organization, a leading think tank, or another professional services firms. The candidate has a firm grasp of current macro debates and ideally an interest in economic history.
YOU'RE GOOD AT:
- Data extraction and working with a variety of macroeconomic data sources to extract intelligent insights
- Translating and communicating the significance of the analysis and its implications for senior audiences
- Driving intellectual leadership through deep understanding of the analytics behind global economic trends and the opportunities and challenges for the business world
- Designing, implementing, building and evaluating macroeconomic models
- Distilling complex results or processes into clear visualizations
- Working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and a need for speed
- Articulating your thought process and findings on paper and in person
What You'll Bring
- Minimum Degree in Economics from a distinguished university
- A minimum of 3 years experience in macroeconomics research, preferably within a professional services firm or leading financial institution
- Knowledge of macro data and experience working with broad set of data platforms, specifically Haver and Bloomberg.
- Strong quantitative capabilities, such as building data tools and conducting analysis.
Who You'll Work With
You will report to BCG's Chief Economist and Managing Director and Partner, based in New York as part of the BCG Henderson Institute's Center for Macroeconomics.
