Job Summary
The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers, and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 900 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.
This position is in the Child Care Center, Immediate Office, Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The purpose of the House Child Care Center (HCCC) is to provide full-day, year-round quality childcare for children of the Members of the House of Representatives, their staff, and House support personnel. This position serves as the Facility Support Worker.
Key responsibilities conducting daily safety inspection of playgrounds and surrounding facility; ensuring all health and safety standards are met; ensuring that inventory of classroom materials, storage closets, and kitchen are maintained; follows a schedule of routine deep sanitation/disinfection not covered by contractors i.e. tables & chairs, playground equipment, and classroom lofts; inventories and puts away daily, weekly, and monthly deliveries; submits, monitors and follows up on the completion of services requests and work orders; Supports with kitchen duties as needed.
This position does not have day-to-day supervisory/managerial responsibilities.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
- Conducts daily playground walk-throughs, completes opening/closing checklists, and maintains sand levels by removing and replacing sand as needed. Coordinates with the administrator when necessary.
- Completes daily walk-though of facility to ensure all exit signs, lights, doors, plumbing fixtures, drains, appliances etc. are working and reports any damage as necessary/schedules work orders as needed.
- Submits, monitors and follow-up on facility related service requests and work orders. Coordinate and schedule work with HRCCC staff, USCP, CAO, HSAA and AOC.
- Receives daily, monthly, and weekly program inventories ensuring they are stored properly and organized as needed.
- Clears snow, leaves, debris during inclement weather to ensure egress paths are free from blockage.
- Assists with sanitation and disinfection of soiled surfaces including bodily fluids.
- Assembly or maintenance of classroom furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Works with classroom staff to ensure daily items are stocked and available. Make daily deliveries of items to classrooms and meets requests for materials as needed. Monitors usage and inventory levels of all classroom materials to include gloves, diapers, cleaning supplies, diaper paper, etc.
- Monitors all classrooms spray bottles to ensure they are in working order, labeled, and filled with required sanitation/disinfectant sprays.
- Creates, updates, and maintains inventory of classroom furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Utilizes inventory for furniture, fixtures, and equipment to monitor warranted items and follows up for replacement with manufacturer as necessary.
- Follows a rotating schedule for deep sanitization/disinfection of all facility areas in classrooms, offices, kitchens, breakrooms, amenity spaces, and playgrounds.
- Ensures proper use of cleaners; assists in cleaning and disinfecting toys, materials, bedding, and other House Child Care Center spaces as needed.
- Works in kitchen as necessary cleaning dishes, delivering/picking up food/dishes. Prepares, serves and supports the daily meal service as needed.
- Supports the House Child Care Center and CAO team through collaboration, resource preparation, and facility support. Takes initiative to enhance services by sharing ideas and participating in meetings.
- Develops familiarity and maintains compliance with all applicable legal requirements including House, Committee, CAO, and House Child Care Canter rules, practices, policies, and procedures.
- Treats all children, families, and staff with dignity and respect, allowing for individual differences. Establishes positive relationships with each child, family member, and coworker.
- Communicates effectively and professionally both orally and in writing; maintains confidentiality.
- Seeks and attends ongoing professional development and demonstrates an attitude of continual growth. Participates in House Child Care Center staff development days to expand knowledge of child development and to better understand and meet the needs of the children.
- Performs other official duties and special projects assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications:
· High school diploma
· 1 year minimum experience working in a school district setting or preschool environment in which the applicant had direct responsibility for cleaning, disinfecting, organizing equipment and school materials.
