The Human Resources Professional will partner with Human Resource Business Partners (HRBPs) and HR Leadership in both corporate and operations to support a variety of business needs including but not limited to immigration, compliance, new hire onboarding, HR operations administration, and a breadth of projects/activities as assigned.
Following is the typical break-down of the HR Professional’s work responsibilities:
Immigration Processing (50%)
The HR Professional will handle Visas, track case files and keep them moving through the process in a timely manner while utilizing the company’s authorized legal immigration vendor. In addition, the Professional will utilize best practices to consistently strengthen our level of service and efficiency.
- Be responsible for all North America (NA) immigration processes, serving as point of contact for NA immigration matters.
- Manage the immigration (visa and work permit) services provided to authorized associates to ensure that assignees have the required visa, paperwork, and support.
- Work closely with immigration counsel to track, prepare, and maintain appropriate immigration cases, e.g., F-1, H-1B, PERM, green card cases, etc.
- Handle telephone calls and respond to inquiries from associates and external vendors.
- Educate managers and business partners on NA immigration strategies and guidelines, as well as related associate concerns.
HR Operations Administration (20%)
Coordinate HR Operations activities and special projects to maintain efficiency and productivity across multiple US plant operations.
- Support payroll processes and other HR processes to ensure consistency, accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare and distribute surveys; summarize results; and support the coordination or implementation of actions determined in response to the results.
- Responsible to coordinate and support HR policy & procedure development, maintenance and distribution.
- Coordinate, participate and provide consistent support to the HR Standardization Team.
- Support/Lead the maintenance and updates to employee handbooks, required postings and various HR policies and procedures.
- Other projects and activities as assigned.
Onboarding of New Hires (10%)
The HR Professional will assist HRBPs in planning, organizing, and presenting new employees orientation programs designed to project the Company’s positive employment philosophy. Work with the HRBPs to promote employee involvement throughout the Novi Tech Center.
- Participate in the on-boarding of new employees, including completion of all benefits enrollment, I-9s, and organization-specific requirements.
- In collaboration with the Learning and Development team, develop and enhance employee on-boarding process.
- Support and lead new hire orientation and ensure completion of new hire e-documents.
Compliance (10%)
This role will also be responsible for managing the employment information and maintaining required documentation in personnel files per legal requirements and standard process. The HR Professional will assist the Human Resources Department in compliance with federal, state and local laws; in the compliance and maintenance of accurate service records for active employees; in the maintaining of records for inactive employees; and, in the compilation and maintenance of appropriate affirmative action reports and all other reports as required.
- Assist HRBPs in work of confidential nature including administration of salaries, performance management and immigration.
- Maintain Employee Files and I9s; ensure compliance with all laws and YFAI record retention policies.
- Prepare the HR team for annual audits and the tracking/completion of follow-up actions.
Special Projects and Misc Activities (10%)
The HR Professional supports and leads a variety of short-term and long-term projects and activities. These activities may be identified by the HR Professional as improvement activities, or may be assigned by HRBP’s/HR Leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related required.
- HR or Business Administration background with at least one (1) year experience in Human Resources.
- General knowledge of employment laws and practices.
- Experience in the administration of immigration programs helpful but not required.
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills and time management.
- Strong verbal, written, and cross-culture communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal and group communication skills.
