We are seeking a Maintenance Worker for our New York, NY office supporting the Greater New York Region.
Must have a current, valid driver's license.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):
Clean facilities and work areas including furnishings, bathrooms, fixtures, walls and floors to ensure they meet health and safety standards and present an attractive appearance. Use maintenance supplies, remove waste material, and maintain inventory of tools and supplies. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Specific duties: Set up and tear down for classes, meetings & events; assist with office moves; light custodial work; sorting and distribution of mail; delivery of supplies to field offices; greet and guide maintenance vendors.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):
Assist with the setup of facilities for meeting, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
Recruit, train and work with volunteers and treat all clients, volunteers, guests, and other employees in a courteous and respectful manner at all times while maintaining a cooperative atmosphere for everyone. Work with a volunteer counterpart to ensure key volunteers are utilized and ensure depth within the function.
Carry out any additional assignments required to fulfill the Mission of the American Red Cross.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):
Education: High School or equivalent required.
Experience: 1 year of related experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities: Practical skills and knowledge of building maintenance and material management required. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Ability to work on a team.
Travel: Will involve travel. Must have current, valid driver's license.
The salary range for this position is (New York City): $19.50 - 20.50

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic).
