Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) seeks to fill the position of a Principal Network Monitoring Technician to support the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) for the System Integration Test and Readiness Contract (SITR) located in Fort Greely, Alaska.
Job Responsibilities:
• In this role, you will be responsible startup, configuration, monitoring, and analysis of GFC/C software.
• Monitor GMD assets and reports status.
• Analyzes operational issues and assists with test/exercise events.
• Participates in scheduled system and site transitions.
• Effectively interfaces and communicates with military and customers to provide problem resolution. Performs workstation and server log management.
• The qualified candidate will also Support the operation of the GMD Communications Network (GCN) through effective monitoring and management of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) devices.
• Utilize training, knowledge, and experience to analyze, document, and report anomalies, determine cause, offer solutions, and implement corrective action when required.
• Understand and execute standard operating procedures to maximize operational availability.
• The qualified candidate will support customer deliverables, process development, and improvement.
• This position requires collaboration and teambuilding across multiple program IPTs, sub-contractors, and extensive customer.

Basic Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.
• IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+) certification or higher IAW DoD 8570 requirements
• Possesses (at a minimum) a DoD Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Effectively responds to work schedule changes and recall activities as needed to support mission requirements.
• Must be able to accommodate and support a 24 hour per day/7 day per week/365 day per year work schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
• BS Computer Science or STEM Degree
• Basic understanding of networking fundamentals and Cisco IOS commands
• Basic understanding of Linux/UNIX commands
• Experience using Microsoft Windows, SolarWinds Orion Platform, VMWare ESXi and/or Active Directory
• Knowledge of Information Security best practices such as centralized authentication and multi-factor authentication
• Some computer related experience (e.g.: Linux, MS Office, databases, software applications and hardware); Preference given to candidates with knowledge of the Linux command line interface and standard toolsets.
• Travel: Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time as needed.
Salary Range: $64,600 - $107,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
