Job Description
- Work independently and with cross-functional teams to perform and develop molecular assays to characterize in vivo AAV vector performance.
- Plan and execute molecular analysis on animal tissues, including DNA/RNA isolation, RT, qPCR, and NGS library preparation.
- Participate in process optimization independently or under limited supervision.
- Develop in-depth knowledge in the gene therapy field.
- Be a critical thinker familiar with the recent advancement in the focused research area and contribute to the team decision-making process.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and timely electronic records to support internal documentation needs and regulatory submissions.
- Manage time efficiently and contribute to multiple projects under demanding timelines.
- Summarize results across multiple experiments in clear presentations to colleagues on the team.
May telecommute up to 20%.
Salary: $92,000/year - $129,000/year
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Employer will accept a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Molecular Biology, Plant and Environmental Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Animal Biology, Physiology or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Principal Associate Scientist, Gene Therapy-related occupation.
Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Molecular Biology, Plant and Environmental Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Animal Biology, Physiology or a related field and 5 years of experience in the job offered or in a Principal Associate Scientist, Gene Therapy-related occupation.
Position requires 24 months of experience in the following:
- Extensive hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation from animal tissues, RT, qPCR, DNA gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, WB.
- Extensive hands-on experience in NGS library preparation.
- Proficiency with analytical and presentation software, including Powerpoint, Excel, and Graphpad.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Works with colleagues as a team player.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, able to advance multiple projects in parallel.
- Proficiency in aseptic cell culture techniques.
- Ability to design plasmid constructs and perform molecular cloning of these constructs.
Position requires demonstrable experience in the following:
Proficiency in handling AAV vectors and non-human primate tissue samples and performing molecular analysis using those samples.
