National Grid is hiring a Principal Engineer for our NE Gas Engineering Design department in Waltham, MA.This is a hybrid role with approximately 1-2 days in the office.A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
Job Purpose
The NE Gas Engineering Pressure Regulation Design team is responsible for the engineering and design of pressure regulator stations & vaults, including various overpressure protection methods such as gas regulators and relief valves.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide PE (Professional Engineer) oversight on a number of pressure regulation projects, including PE stamping of deliverables.
- Provide gas engineering and design expertise, develop project scopes and progress internal design and engineering on a range of small- and large-scale projects
- Develop P&IDs, flow diagrams, calculations, general layouts and other design drawings required for the construction and completion of various projects
- Supporting Engineering Managers, Team Leads and other engineers.
- Provide project management, direct oversight, supervision and review of design drawings where work is being completed by our external consultants
Qualifications
- PE Engineer required. Ability to become MA PE certified if PE is with another state
- 10+ years engineering experience required
- Experienced knowledge of piping, valves and control valves preferred
- Excellent coordination skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to progress and move projects forward when data and information is incomplete.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal management direction for all projects

Salary:$145,000 - $170,000
