What's the role?

MIDEL & MIVOLT is a product range of synthetic and natural esters for use as transformer fluids (MIDEL) and immersion cooling liquids for batteries and data centres (MIVOLT). MMFL has built a strong global business based on delivering technical excellence and high standards of customer service to niche markets around the globe. Since the company's acquisition by Shell in Jan 2024, we seek to grow MIDEL's market presence, and develop a go-to market proposition for MIVOLT.

Our manufacturing facilities is based in Manchester UK, and we sell our products across the globe.

We manufacture and sell a range of products under the MIDEL brand which are used as insulation and coolant fluids in transformers.  MIDEL products are fire safe, environmentally friendly esters used either as a replacement for mineral oil or dry type transformers. A Product Application Specialist is required to provide much needed technical support for Midel dielectric fluid products (Midel 7131, Midel eN 1204 and Midel eN 1215, and Midel Regen) across the region.  The role will predominantly home-based, but with approximately 30-40% of time will be spent travelling (both abroad and within region) attending/speaking at conferences and providing customer and commercial support.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support for all Dielectric Fluid technical enquiries received via the website, telephone and
  • Email and utilizing the CRM database.
  • Lead Technical projects and activities designed to further the Dielectric Fluid product business or to promote Dielectric Fluid products in the market.  Ensure delivery of project milestones to time and quality.
  • Get involved with, or lead technical innovation projects as defined by the established M&I Innovation Pipeline designed to  promote new dielectric fluid products or new applications
  • Provide technical support to Business Development Managers and customers. Accompanying
  • Business Development managers on customer visits as required, often abroad.
  • Provide Marketing with the technical expertise and feedback from internal and
  • external technical projects to produce technical brochures, updating of the website and
  • assisting to produce various technical literature for use with customers
  • Writing and delivering presentations and technical papers at exhibitions and conferences.
  • Assist in identifying the commercial potential of new applications

A significant aspect of the job will involve travelling abroad, providing technical support and giving technical presentations for these products, therefore the ability to travel is key in this role.

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in the power or high voltage sector, preferable with experience of power transformer design
  • Ability to learn quickly and deal with the technical demands of promoting a variety of dielectric fluid products
  • Comfortable with being customer facing and confident in discussing technical issues and delivering technical presentations
  • Able to work to deadlines, and be flexible enough to prioritize their workload to be proactively responsive to the needs of technical/customer/sales and marketing demands

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.  For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.  Additional information on Shell's US benefit programs can be found at https://www.shell.us/careers/about-careers-at-shell/rewards-and-benefits.html.
