The Professor and Department Head of Construction Management in the College of Health and Human Sciences is a 12-month, full-time faculty position. The successful applicant will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to serve in a broad variety of roles as needed, and be dedicated to the mission of the Department, College, and University.

The Department of Construction Management is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Colorado State University (CSU) is Colorados land-grant institution and holds the Doctoral/Research University-Extensive classification from the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. The Department of Construction Management is one of the largest construction management programs in the country with approximately 800 undergraduate students, 20 graduate students, 21 faculty and 7 professional staff. The Department offers both bachelors and masters degrees in construction management. The Department works in collaboration with both the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and School of Education to offer interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs with construction management focus areas for students with diverse backgrounds and research interests. Academic advising and internship and career placement support is provided by professional staff. The department engages in teaching, scholarly, and outreach activities to promote the development of knowledge and skills related to construction management. The Departments facilities include over 36,000 square feet in dedicated labs (physical testing and computer), classrooms, and offices to support its research, teaching, and service mission. The undergraduate program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE); it is interdisciplinary, integrating technology and innovative management systems with the basics of civil engineering, business and management, and the communication skills required to be successful in todays world.

Our outstanding and highly recognized program features industry collaborations, service-learning, and national competitions providing hands-on learning opportunities for students. The Department houses the award-winning CM Cares program, which promotes service learning by infusing leadership traits, team building, and ethics through community service activities. It focuses on teaming students, faculty, staff, and industry partners to assist with construction related projects for people with special needs, or local community service agencies needing assistance that cannot be provided by other sources. The faculty members in the Department pursue applied research opportunities by maintaining a close association with the needs of the regional, national, and global Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry. In pursuing this research, the faculty members have identified five core research alliance areas that span research, teaching, and engagement activities and provide a common ground for interaction between faculty, students, and industry members: (i) Construction Education and Workforce Development, (ii) Construction Technology, (iii) Infrastructure Systems, (iv) Project Delivery and Management, and (v) Sustainability and Resilience. As the demands of theAECindustry change over time, these research alliance areas may evolve, and additional areas may be established.

The Department is housed within the College of Health and Human Sciences, which is comprised of eight academic units: the Departments of Construction Management, Design and Merchandising, Food Science and Human Nutrition, Health and Exercise Science, Human Development and Family Studies, and Occupational Therapy, and the Schools of Education and Social Work.
