There is an immediate opening for an R&D Engineer/Scientist II position in the Engineering, Design and Construction Group within our Research and Development facilities. This is a project manager that is accountable for the design and construction of new and/or revamped pilot plants for Research and Development. You will play a key role in UOP's technology delivery process by insuring the on-time and on budget delivery of construction projects that meet all the agreed upon functional requirements. This position has responsibilities on-site at both the Riverside/McCook and Des Plaines sites.
As an R&D Engineer/Scientist II, you will have a significant impact on the development of cutting-edge technologies where the group's portfolio of projects which exceed $9M annually, contributing to Honeywell's commitment to addressing global challenges through innovative solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the HS&E performance of the Design and Construction Group ensuring that all HS&E policies and procedures are followed and that pilot plants are designed and constructed according to best engineering practices and can be operated in a safe manner and in adherence to environmental policies and regulations.
- Accountable for the development of engineering standards for the design and construction of pilot plants.
- Facilitate Lean Six Sigma efforts including HOS to improve the design and construction work processes in order to reduce the time and costs associated with the design and construction of pilot plants.
- Drive engineering support for R&D.
- Mentor Engineering staff in pilot plant design engineering.
- Responsible for schedules and budgets of all internal R&D capital projects.
The annual base salary range for this position is $86,400. - $108,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
- 3+ years of experience performing research and development projects within a technology or manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of technical leadership and project management

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another related field
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of machining, welding, electrical and construction techniques and practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to drive technology commercialization is a plus
