Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the Regional Sales Director (RSD) is a strategic leader responsible for driving revenue growth and enhancing the customer experience through consultative selling practices and technology-driven solutions. The RSD directs a team of Territory Managers across multiple states, ensuring they are fully staffed, trained, and coached to achieve and exceed growth objectives. This role serves as a critical liaison between internal departments—including marketing, procurement, and pharmacy—and our customers, fostering a collaborative environment that supports Wedgewood Pharmacy's overarching business goals.
The ideal candidate will be located within the territory as this position will be responsible for managing our West Coast Region.
What you’ll do:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive short- and long-term sales strategies aligned with corporate objectives to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
- Consultative Selling: Promote a consultative sales approach, ensuring Territory Managers effectively identify customer needs, present tailored solutions, and enhance the customer experience.
- Technology-Driven Value: Leverage technology to demonstrate value to customers, streamline sales processes, and enhance data-driven decision-making. Ability to coach team on the value Wedgewood’s technology and products bring to the veterinary community.
- Team Development: Lead all personnel processes, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training, and professional development to build a high-performing sales team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a strategic connector between sales, marketing, procurement, and pharmacy to ensure cohesive operations and customer-centric initiatives.
- Market Analysis: Continuously assess market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic initiatives.
- Performance Management: Establish performance benchmarks, monitor key metrics, and provide regular coaching to optimize individual and team effectiveness.
- Business Development: Drive new business initiatives, contribute to product launches, and support corporate/GPO partnerships to expand market presence.
- Customer Engagement: Attend regional and national veterinary conferences, fostering strong relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders.
- Operational Excellence: Manage CRM activities, ensuring data accuracy and leveraging insights for strategic decision-making. Champion the use of technology platforms to improve customer engagement and internal efficiencies.
Who you are:
- In-depth understanding of the veterinary pharmaceutical market.
- Background in veterinary practice, healthcare, or scientific industries is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire sales teams to achieve and exceed business goals.
- Strong strategic thinking with a track record of driving business growth through consultative selling.
- Proficiency in leveraging technology to enhance sales effectiveness and customer value.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
What you’ve done:
- Minimum of 8 years of sales management or consultative selling experience with progressive leadership responsibilities in technology and/or product.
- At least 5 years of experience in the animal health industry, or adjacent industries with demonstrated success in sales leadership and team development. You are a leader from the front who is driven to develop your team.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience managing sales teams targeting large veterinary referral and specialty hospitals.
Travel Requirement: 50% - 75% travel required to support team development, client engagement, and industry events.
