A Brief Overview
This is a Per Diem position in our Outpatient Oncology Clinic located in the Buerger Center. Required is 24 hours in a 6 week graph, weekends, off shifts and 1- 12 hour winter and 1 -12 hour summer holiday. 12 months of previous pediatric RN expereince is required.
The Day Hospital Team is looking for an Oncology Nurse with strong Oncology and Chemo administration skills.
The UP2 Clinical Nurse meets the established staffing and scheduling expectations for the position. Maintenance of all competencies and required educational programs relevant to the unit patient population is required. UP 2 Clinical Nurses practice as Clinical Nurses in accordance with the following, which is consistent for all RNs with this job title.

Responsibilities
Deliver family-centered care guided by CHOP's Nursing Professional Practice Model.
Develop, evaluate, and revise patients' plans of care throughout their hospitalization.
Gather and analyze data to inform the care team and delegate tasks.
Promote excellent patient outcomes by adhering to evidence-based practices, nursing standards, and safety procedures.
Identify and address safety concerns or ethical dilemmas with unit leadership.
Develop effective partnerships with the interdisciplinary care team.
Adopt healthcare technology and clinical practice changes in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain CEUs for nursing licensure and comply with annual nursing competencies and mandatory education.
Education
Required: Technical diploma- Nursing
Preferred: Bachelor's degree- Nursing
Experience
Required: At least one (1) year RN experience
Preferred: Prior experience in pediatrics or area of specialty
Skills and Abilities
Use of patient-facing technology (IV pumps, point-of-care devices, CR monitors)
Ability to gather and assess clinical information using appropriate healthcare technology
Licenses and Certifications
Required (upon hire at a Pennsylvania location): Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) or Nursing Temporary Practice Permit (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board
Required (upon hire at a New Jersey location): Registered Nurse (New Jersey) or Nursing Temporary Practice Permit (New Jersey) - New Jersey State Licensing Board
Required (upon hire): Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by an organization that appoints a hands-on instructor to lead psychomotor skills verification (i.e., American Heart Association or Red Cross).
About the Unit
Oncology Clinic and Day Hospital is located in the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care. Outpatient Oncology is a fast-paced environment. On average 100 patients are treated Monday-Friday 0730am-9pm. The clinic is closed on weekends and holidays however there is a phone triage nurse staffed everyday including holidays. Nurses work in our clinic and are paired with attendings, fellows and APPS to provide care during a provider visit. Other areas where nurses are assigned are: general anesthesia procedure area within the clinic and recovery area as well as day hospital infusion. Bone marrow aspirates and lumbar punctures are performed daily in clinic and GA therefore nurses are all PALS certified. The day hospital cares for hematology patients and oncology patients. The nurses administers blood products and chemo in the day hospital. Oncology clinic also functions as the ER for oncology population during the day. There is potential for sick patients to arrive throughout the day. Planned chemo therapy admissions arrive in clinic and start their admission in the day hospital. All staff are iv trained and access ports. Nurses are also all certified in administering chemotherapy. This is a very busy and dynamic area to work in where many different skills are used with a lot of opportunity for growth and professional development.
