Shell is seeking a Reliability Engineer for a position in Michigan City.
Accountabilities:
Act as a champion of reliability within the asset, coaching and influencing at all levels to increase focus on understanding and eliminating root causes of unreliability
Provide support and conduct risk assessments as needed. Facilitate learning from repetitive failures and reliability events. Perform Deep Dives on equipment and processes based on performance, risk, criticality. Techniques to employ here include FMEA and Fault Tree
Act as the custodian to implement and execute the (Managing Threats & Opportunities) MTO process, providing support and coaching to the production teams in threat (and opportunity) identification, ranking, investigation, and close-out. Maintain the MTO database
Support the Investigation process by facilitating reliability investigations. Champion efforts to grow causal learning use at the site
Analyses Plant reliability performance data (production losses) utilizing reliability engineering tools (FMEA, reliability modelling, Weibull analysis) and provide reliability data to site personnel (for project forms, asset master planning, risk assessments, reliability reviews) to identify and understand threats to reliability and availability. Apply RCA techniques to understanding and eliminating those threats
Assure Reliability Metrics are compiled and data communicated to the site - including site leadership, production teams, and run and maintain organization. Provide updates to Leadership Team on big hit items closure status and mitigation of other reliability threats
Initiate and progress any changes (PM routines, procedural/process changes) through the MOC process as required to improve reliability performance
Link between the Production teams and Maintenance attendance/participation in routine run and maintain meetings to ensure Preventative Maintenance (PM's), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), and other aspects of reliability are represented
Act as custodian of the Manage Equipment Care (MEC) process. Maintain schedule for maintenance strategy reviews and conduct the review based on Risk & Reliability Management principles with tools such as PM Optimization (PMO), REM strategy reviews, RCM and PM Library where applicable. Implement condition-based maintenance (CBM) approach and condition monitoring (CM) strategies where appropriate
Facilitate Root Cause Analysis or Causal Learning Investigations as necessary to support reliability improvements. Act as the asset Subject Matter Expert for RCA methodologies, particularly 5-Why and Causal Learning, and provide coaching across the asset in application of the methods
Ensure that the right events are investigated - be the Production team conscience
Facilitate/participate in sidebars after the routine run and maintain meetings to help create clarity and ensure Reliability is in the picture
Facilitate periodic reviews on critical spares, min/max inventory levels, Material Master coding and support on list of materials creation and upload into Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Provide engineering support to operations as required, including assistance with troubleshooting and process management (MOC, MTO)
Helping links the different facets of Reliability (MTO, PM, RCM, Bad Actors lists) into one strategy
Leader and individual contributor to safe and environmentally sound facility operations. Identify training needs and resources to support this effort. Comply with plant and regulatory HSSE requirements and receive required HSSE training. Respond to hazards by reducing risks, reporting incidents and participating in root cause analyses.
Accountable for ensuring specific HSSE critical equipment is inspected and maintained on a regular basis
Accountable for HSSE requirements when leading any project and responsible for the HSSE of any contractor employees performing work on those projects
Apply the following systems: Permit to Work; Energy Isolation, Working in Heights, Hot Work, Confined Space Entry
Initiate and follow the Management of Change process
Follow all HSSE standards and lead by example. Intervene with all employees/contractors onsite when at risk behaviours/conditions exist
Knowledgeable in Emergency Response
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
Preferably has a knowledge of the following

What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $101,000 - $151,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
