JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Sales Operation Center Supervisor, this role is responsible for inspecting new buses when they are delivered to the Sales Operation Center reworking and/or repairing damaged and/or misbuilt body parts and bodies of buses in accordance with factory specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect buses to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, company standards, and customer requirements.
- Inspects for obvious damage and missing major components.
- Inspects for loose or misaligned items such as trim, doors, and hardware.
- Inspects surfaces to detect minor chips and scratches in paint.
- Repairs, replaces and/or upgrades a variety of bus body parts.
- Uses welding, sanding and refinishing equipment to prepare buses for painting.
- Uses professional painting equipment to repaint prepared surfaces.
- Performs repairs with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with factory standards.
- Washes and polishes exterior of vehicles.
- Ensures repairs are properly documented.
- Keeps shop area neat and clean.
- Maintains and is accountable for all Sales Operation Center owned paint equipment and tools.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
- Assists SOC Supervisor in staying abreast and compliant with all federal, state and local regulations associated with a body shop / paint operation.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Highly knowledgeable about the body (exterior & interior) of buses and how to work on them using the best practices.
- Strong technical background with expertise in school bus and/or medium duty vehicle applications.
- Product familiarization for all sub-systems on school bus and/or medium duty vehicle products.
- Excellent communication and customer relation skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Proven track record of working independently, following-through and solving problems quickly.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required, including weekends and evenings.
EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE:
- 5+ years of body work experience in the automotive, truck and/or bus industry.
- 5+ years of body paint experience in the automotive, truck and/or bus industry.
- ASE Collision Repair or Refinishing Technician certification (Preferred).
- Class B CDL w/School bus & Air Brake Endorsement, or the ability to obtain first year of employment.
- 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Office suite.
