Job Summary:
Drives activities of technical team to achieve continuous improvement of injection molding processes. Works with production management production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify process activities to support customer requirements. Implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and affect greater utilization of labor and materials.
Essential functions of the job:
- Assists providing direction to the site process team including PE’s, Process Technicians, and mold setters.
- Responsible for injection molding related continuous improvement including but not limited too - cycle times, scrap, quality, and material cost reduction.
- Develops plans for injection molding process improvement and will have specific areas of accountability in its execution.
- Provides support on new product launch tooling, providing the manufacturing input for development of new process and improvements to existing processes and tooling.
- Follows established action plans for processes out of range.
- Work with Tooling Manager for all tool repairs and maintenance. · Maintains documentation closely following necessary timeliness on specific projects.
- Enforce safety rules daily and actively intervene to correct recognized unsafe actions and conditions.
- Ability to complete employee development plans, organize, communicate, and motivate employees. Must be able to prioritize own work -day schedule.
- Works closely with the site Technical Manager to develop appropriate training material for the plant’s operations.
- Evaluates the maintenance team and develop a site-specific training/skill top grade program to ensure success; he/she will be required to assist the site technical manager to determine where training needs are required, as well as be expected to hold training seminars where applicable and setup site training when needed.
- Site owner for eDart; ensure the scientific molding principles are applied and followed; work closely with the Technical Manager to develop and eDart deployment and maintenance strategy
- Manages projects that could include new equipment justification, selection, and installation; development of new manufacturing methods; machine utilization studies; and new tooling qualifications; in conjunction with the tooling process engineer, he/she will be responsible for new tool design and development.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Level Degree
Area of Study: Plastics, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or similar.
Required qualifications:
- 5-7 Minimum Years of Experience with injection molding process.
- 5-9 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
- Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
- Must be organized and able to communicate well with others.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty, satisfactorily.
- Working knowledge and demonstrated competence of IATF16949.
- IATF 16949 training as Lead Auditor.
