The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Senior Regional Philanthropy Officer / Foundation Partnerships to support our Greater New York Region (NYC and the surrounding communities).
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
We are looking for an experienced fundraising professional to join the Individual and Foundational team as a Senior Philanthropy Officer, Foundation Partnerships. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in successful private foundation fundraising and/ or grants management, with a demonstrated track record of securing private institutional gifts or grants at or exceeding six and seven figures. In this role, you will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective regional donors in expanding their financial support of the work of the American Red Cross. This position is a blend of work-from-home, in-person meetings with donors, and an occasional team meeting in a local office.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:
- Implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors in the New York City market with the capacity to make five-to-seven figure grants, with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for the American Red Cross.
- Identify and solicit new foundation donors within assigned geography to increase geography size. Conduct donor meetings to present funding opportunities that align with donor interest and/or provide updates on the impact of their grantmaking.
- Work with the local fundraising team to develop and execute ongoing regional strategy for qualifying donors to ensure retention, growth of donor contributions, as well as recapture from previous donors. Work collaboratively with other departments and fundraising staff to create customized solicitation strategies matching the objectives of the organization and the interests of the donor/prospect.
- Maintain donor records within our database management tool. (Salesforce)
- Participate in disaster relief fundraising projects as appropriate.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum seven years of sales and/or fundraising experience required.
- Five years’ of experience working with private foundations preferred.
- Proven experience in developing strategies for retaining current donors and securing grants from prospects.
- Excellent writing skills and demonstrated ability to develop complex proposals and grant reports.
- A current valid driver’s license and good driving record is quired.
- Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce.com). Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
- Travel: Occasional travel within New City and the surrounding communities required.
COMPENSATION INFORMATION:
The salary range for this position is $105,000 -$115,000 annual plus the opportunity to participate in an incentive plan.

Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role.
