Introduction to role:
Join our Bioscience Asthma & Skin Immunity research group in Gaithersburg, US as a Senior Scientist. This role is perfect for a motivated researcher with experience in lung/skin immunology and primary immune cells. Your enthusiasm for innovative scientific research will drive the discovery and development of novel therapeutics.
Accountabilities:
As a lab-based researcher, you will have the opportunity to shape the direction of our work. You will focus on characterizing novel biology pathways, collaborate with scientists from various teams, mentor junior scientists, and publish your work in high impact journals and international conferences. Your work will involve human in vitro systems and working with primary and disease tissue-derived cells.
Essential Skills/Experience:
A Ph.D. and a minimum 3 years of Postdoc and/or Biotech/Pharma experience in Immunology with major focus on lung or skin. M.Sc. and a minimum of 10 years of Biotech/Pharma experience will also be considered.
In vitro culture, differentiation and functional assays using human primary cells
Processing of human tissue samples (e.g. skin biopsy processing, epidermal and dermal separation, peripheral blood mononuclear cell isolation)
Functional in vitro assays (co-culture experiments, MSD multiplex cytokines, screening of compounds)
Strong hands-on skills in basic biochemical and molecular techniques including cell culture, quantification of mRNA (qPCR) and protein expression; ELISA, Western blot, Immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry.
Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team to conduct a high-level research project.
Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to critically analyze data sets.
Demonstrated ability to run collaborative efforts and utilize external resources to find the most effective solutions to deliver high-quality science, translatable to human disease.
Excellent publication record (project is expected to yield publication of scientific results in peer-reviewed journals) and the ability to apply current scientific literature to projects.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Experience with primary human cell isolation, culture and functional assays
Effective contributing to collaborative projects involving cross-disciplinary and global teams.
Experience with mentoring students at the undergraduate and Ph.D. level.

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $105,875.20 - $158,812.80 USD, either as annual base pay or as the hourly rate (annual base pay divided by 2080 hours)]. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
