Job Purpose

Plans, directs and executes all non-customer work progressing to Electric Maintenance and Construction Opex and Capex annual work plans in order to achieve all fiscal year financial targets. Provides direction and guidance to key stakeholders ensuring the progression of work is meeting established milestones, as well as regulatory requirements. Provide continuous improvement strategies on regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction and best practices. Assist in establishing strategy to deliver efficient solutions to meet stakeholders needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct and oversee the operational workload of a team of Resource Coordinators who are responsible for managing the progression of work from design complete to ready to schedule.
  • Lead the work progression related functions and resource coordination activities forlong term Opex and Capex construction projects including customer work to the appropriate internal Distribution Line teams in accordance with the annual work plans.
  • Oversee all projects and programs of work to ensure they are appropriately prioritized and progressed in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure we deliver the best value for National Grid's customers.
  • Lead the progression of work to construction-ready work in order to maintain a levelized capital work plan throughout the fiscal year, identifying risks where applicable to ensure an efficient capital/O&M split.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a professional team, prioritize work, promote safe working practices and allocate resources in order to ensure results are delivered in line with expectations and customer/business objectives. Deliver strategies to reduce O&M budget expenses; prioritize and bundle work.
  • Responsible for timely communication of milestone visibility to stakeholders ensuring accurate progression of the annual work plan.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within the Electric maintenance and Construction area and across the business, to translate business objectives into well-defined requirements with clearly defined business cases in order to support change and innovation within National Grid.
  • Leverage continuous improvement principles to review and challenge existing policies and processes to ensure they are fit for purpose and drive best value for the business.
  • Provide special project and/project management support as required.
  • Observe, map and monitor work, identify paint points, efficiencies, best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Build capabilities and support all employees to reach their full potential.
  • Manage performance, behavior and attendance of employees, along with training plans and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license required, with a clean driving record
  • Engineering or Business degree preferred or equivalent experience and with theoretical knowledge and understanding of National Grid's policies and processes and how to apply them effectively.
  • Previous supervisory experience in operational field activity preferred.
  • Understands and identifies training or developmental needs of others and can design and establish new programs of work to support them.
  • Understands the importance of procedures and standards of working and demonstrates the ability to give directions or demonstrations with clear reasons and rationales.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation in order to clearly articulate the findings and anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps.
  • Requires the ability to think from first principles and demonstrates ability to challenge processes and use knowledge or trends to look at current situations.
  • Makes self fully available for the customer, especially when they are going through a critical period. Demonstrates an energetic and enthusiastic manner and the ability to add value to the customer

More Information

Salary: $109,000 - $128,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
