- In this hybrid role you will have a defined work location in 1 of 4 possible metro-areas - Denver CO, Salt Lake City UT, Boise ID, or Kansas City - that includes assigned office and work from home as set by your manager.
Duties:
In this role you will be part of the Mountain Plains (MTPL) Region Transport Engineering team that works with the latest technology to provide our customers access to our many network components including 4G and 5G systems across 7 states - MO, KS, CO, WY, MT, ID, UT.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Transport network engineering - design, ordering, tracking, and implementation for new build and modification projects.
- Work closely with third party transport providers as well as Network Engineering, Field Operations, and HQ Planning teams to complete projects.
- Complete documentation of transport equipment, circuits, ports, and paths using Canvas/Fuze CND or similar transport network inventory tools.
- -Work with other groups to ensure that upgrade/growth projects meet expectant demands in support of the Company's objectives.
- Interface with Maintenance Engineering teams across the organization to ensure we are meeting Company-wide standards.
- Work with Network Planning on strategic initiatives to develop future technology solutions and features as well as growth jobs on existing products that support our network infrastructure.
Most Important:
- Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in the communications industry in a Transport Engineering role.
- Knowledge of IP addressing, routing principles, and network design.
- Knowledge of eNSE, Native E, CWDM/DWDM and SONET Optical Transport systems.
- Experience with third party lit and dark fiber vendors, their organizational processes and standards, as well as their network portfolio maps.
- Proficient in computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Ability to learn new technology quickly and apply working knowledge of wireless engineering on new projects.
- Senior Engineer-level troubleshooting, problem solving, project management, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be self-motivated, show initiative, and be able to work independently.

Desired Skills:
- Experience with XNG/Granite or similar circuit database.
- Experience with Fuze project management tool.

Education/Certifications:
- Minimum Associates Degree or four (4) or more years equivalent work experience
