Job Summary

Position: Administrative Specialist, GS 7/9

Division: Los Angeles Field Office

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Working Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Hours may vary depending on the needs of the office.

Salary:

GS 7: $57,007.00 - $74,110.00

GS 9: $69,729.00 - $90,647.00

GS 11: $84,366.00 - $109,673.00

Full Performance level: GS 11

Number of Positions Available: 1

Duration: Full Time/Permanent

Additional selections may be made from this announcement to fill positions within the same division when the position includes substantially the same duties, responsibilities, and qualifications.

Key Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have (or be able to obtain) a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance 
  • Some travel may be required 
  • Selectee will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 annually

Physical Demands

Employees may be required to lift items of approximately 20 lbs. or more.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office. However, work may also be performed in shipping/receiving areas, warehouse environments, and records storage areas. Protective clothing and gear and observance of safety precautions may be required, depending on the type of work performed.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties:

  • Performs a variety of analytical work in the following fields: facilities and space management; financial administration; human resources management; inventory management; records management; and, field office studies.
  • Completes projects designed to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of work operations and programs in the field office to which assigned. 
  • Prepares and presents findings orally and in writing to higher-level management personnel in the field office and FBIHQ, as required.
  • Guides and trains other employees in facets of work performed.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Specialized Experience (SE):

GS 7:  Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 5 grade level, as defined below:

  • Created and maintained administrative records or documents for further review.
  • Collected data/information utilizing various resources.
  • Analyzed data for relevance to work being conducted.

GS 9:  Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 7 grade level, as defined below:

  • Created and maintained administrative records or documents.
  • Collected data/information utilizing various resources.
  • Analyzed data for relevance to work being conducted and made recommendations for improvements.  
  • Collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to determine needs and meet objectives.

GS 11:  Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 9 grade level, as defined below:

  • Conducted research and analysis in support of projects and/or specific studies measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of work operations and made recommendations to improve the processes. 
  • Collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to determine needs and meet objectives. 
  • Provided advice and guidance to others based on a variety of established policies and procedures as it related to administrative matters and office operations. 
  • Prepared and presented study results or briefing materials. 

Education

All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

GS 7: Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or one (1) full year of graduate level education. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership.

GS 9: Applicant must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

GS 11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.

        a. Percent of time worked in the particular position (cannot conflict with main duties)
        b. The month/year work began
        c. Frequency worked (i.e., daily, monthly, etc.)
        d. Specific duties performed
