Point of Sale (POS) Analysts perform the daily tasks necessary to support the POS systems software and hardware in Costco’s warehouse and gas station environments. This includes performing issue resolution and root cause analyses, maintaining constant communication with the business and IT personnel via email, phone, and call management software to ensure that the POS systems are up and operational at all times. The POS Analyst also develops, manages, updates, documents, analyzes, monitors, and supports technology systems including: software and hardware support, configuration management, quality assurance, third-party vendor application support, and general user support.

When main duties are fulfilled, there will also be assigned tasks given and involvement on projects such as technology refresh, root cause determination, hardware/software implementation, routine compliance auditing, and POS quality assurance testing. Typical business hours will include weekend days.

ROLE

● Conducts in-depth analysis on trends in the data to increase a system's performance and efficiency.

● Develops strategies for retiring old systems while deploying new ones.

● Develops, facilitates, installs, and performs quality assurance testing on POS software and hardware plans for installation of software and hardware.

● Develops, operates, and maintains tools and scripts to automate deployments and meet POS support needs.

● Designs and develops new support and deployment processes to match the current retail industry standards.

● Ensures infrastructure requirements are met prior to deployment.

● Leads project/stakeholder meetings as they relate to: defining and communicating POS deployment and support requirements, analyzing and determining alternative delivery methods, and creating project timelines and cost estimates.

● Articulates and documents technical infrastructure and components.

● Develops and conducts post installation testing and surveys to ensure that the systems work as expected.

● Creates and coordinates deployment schedules for project and non-project deployments.

● Develops instruction manuals, knowledge-based articles, presentations, and other job aides to train the systems’ users.

● Creates, monitors, and updates system reporting for effective performance management.

● Identifies, tracks, and drives support, deployment, or systems issues to resolution.

● Configures, tests, and implements POS systems and solutions, to ensure POS systems are always up and operational.

● Conducts daily audits and turnover task.

● Provides second-level technical support via phone, email, and on-call for warehouses and gas stations.

● Creates and maintains knowledge base documentation for Service Desk and provides training.

● Monitors, resolves, and escalates tier 2 POS System issues in the call management system.

● Provides root cause analysis on reported problems

● Updates and tracks data such as system uptime, device status’, exception, and turnover reports.

● Assists suppliers, installers, and end-users.

● Executes the installation of new and existing POS software and hardware.

REQUIRED

● Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

● Extremely responsive, able to work under pressure and/or in crisis with a strong sense of urgency.

● Excellent customer service skills and superior telephone etiquette.

● Excellent attention to details and ability to assess ‘big picture”.

● Strong critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills.

● Strong proven interpersonal skills and able to work well with people at all levels.

● A positive attitude and able to work in a team environment.

● Self-motivated and able to work independently, with little supervision.

● Able to support off hours work as required including evenings, weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities on a rotational basis.

● Ability to travel to off-site locations on short notice (within 24 hours) and return to home location the next day or stay overnight as necessary.

Recommended

● Degree in computer science or related technical field preferred.

● 1-2 years’ in POS or in a related IT field.

● Minimum 1-year Service Desk experience.

● Minimum 1-year Costco warehouse/gas operations experience.

● Experienced with service management processes such as incident, problem, and change.

● Proficient in administering Windows Server 2008 or higher.

● Basic knowledge of networking, TCP/IP fundamentals, and wireless.

● Understanding of or responsible for learning the warehouse and fuel system applications.

Pay Ranges

Level 1 - $33.65 - $40.87

Level 2 - $38.46 - $48.08
